I walk backwards into the future with my eyes fixed on my past
 

It was 1898 when Te Wai Hirere- Roseneath School started its journey on this
site where the first school committee was formed and opened its doors to the
community. Ever since then, we have remained an integral part of the
Roseneath community.

Our journey has seen us through major wars, a flu epidemic, devastating fires
and even through the latest covid 19 outbreak. Despite all these things, we still
stand strong today and continue to stand together, having made great
memories and steadfast friendships throughout the years.

We cordially invite you to come together and join us for a fun filled weekend
celebrating 125 years of Roseneath School. Share your stories, reminisce on
your memorable moments and enjoy this time together as a community, over
delicious food and plenty of laughter

Weekend Itinerary

Saturday 21st October 2023

9.30 onwards Conversazione – A time to gather, share stories and collect
your weekend registration packs.

Decade photographs will be taken throughout the morning

Classrooms will be open for you to visit and reminisce.

NZ Defence will have their canons out on the Saluting Battery site “Down the
Bank!” and will give a talk.

The Long Hall will be open with music and dancing.

12.30pm Lunch will be served from the hall with a musical accompaniment

Soapbox Following lunch will be an opportunity to tell your favourite story. Hosted by Susie Fergusson.

2pm Cake cutting Our oldest former pupil and youngest current pupil will cut
the Anniversary cake

Sunday 23rd October 2023

10:00am: Remembrance service – a chance to come together and reflect
upon our journey and show gratitude to all the hard working men and women
from across the 125 years that have made Te Wai Hirere Roseneath School
into the success it is today. All denominations welcomed.

10.30 am This will be followed by Devonshire Tea at the school hall which will
be decorated with photo boards and memorabilia. If you have anything you’d
like to share that we can display please send it to us or bring it with you on the
day.
We will round off our 125th Anniversary celebrations with a tree planting.
We look forward to celebrating 125 years of Roseneath School with all of you
and creating memories that will be cherished for years to come!
