No, Roseneath School does not have an enrolment zone! We welcome enrolments from across Wellington. Because we are conveniently located just minutes from the CBD, we are a popular choice for families commuting into the city for work.

No, we do not use a cohort entry system. Your child is welcome to start school on (or any time after) their 5th birthday! We will work with you to arrange transition visits in the weeks leading up to their actual start date so they feel completely ready.

School starts: 9:00 AM (Classrooms open at 8:30 AM)

Morning Tea: 10:30 AM – 10:50 AM

Lunch: 12:30 PM – 1:25 PM

School finishes: 3:00 PM

Yes. We partner with Enjoy Child Care, who run a fantastic after-school programme directly out of the Roseneath School hall and grounds. Sessions run from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM every weekday during the term.

While our formal Enjoy Child Care programme runs after school, our classrooms open at 8:30 AM each morning. Students are welcome to arrive from this time to unpack their bags, catch up with friends, and settle in before the bell rings at 9:00 AM.

No, Roseneath School does not have a compulsory uniform. We simply ask that children are dressed in comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and footwear that allows them to be active and play freely.

We do have optional school t-shirts available to purchase from the office. While not required for day-to-day wear, these are fantastic for students to wear during cross-country, sports events, or when representing the school out in the community!

Please note that we are a strictly Sunsafe school. During Terms 1 and 4, students are required to wear a sun hat when outside. This can be any full-brim or bucket hat from home that protects the face, neck, and ears. If you prefer, we also have school-branded Sunsafe Roseneath hats available to purchase from the office.

We request a voluntary annual school donation of $500 per student (which is tax-deductible). We also ask for an Activity & EOTC Contribution of $20 per term to cover our frequent trips into the city. You can view the full breakdown on our School Donations page.

Because of our beautiful, elevated location on Point Jerningham, our street can be quite busy at drop-off and pick-up times! We encourage parents to use the designated drop-off zones safely. However, we are incredibly lucky to have a public bus stop located directly outside the school gates! As children grow older, many families take full advantage of this convenient bus route to build independence, or encourage their tamariki to walk, scooter, and take part in our 'Movin' March' active transport initiatives to help reduce congestion.

For most of the week, students need to bring their own packed morning tea, lunch, and a water bottle. However, we have a fantastic, regular weekly lunch order programme! We partner with various local providers to offer plenty of delicious lunch order options throughout the term. Not only is this a great treat for the kids, but it also serves as a brilliant regular fundraiser for our school. All the details on how to order will be provided once your child starts.

One of the greatest benefits of our small kura is our intimate class sizes. While numbers fluctuate slightly throughout the year, our teachers maintain excellent student-to-teacher ratios. This ensures every single child is known, their learning is highly personalised, and no one slips through the cracks.
