Starting School
A warm welcome to our youngest learners as they begin their educational journey.
A Big Milestone for Your Whānau
Starting school is a massive milestone, not just for your child, but for your whole family! At Roseneath, we are dedicated to making this transition as smooth, joyful, and stress-free as possible.
Because we are a small kura, your child won't get lost in the crowd. They will be warmly welcomed into Aft Class, our dedicated New Entrant and Year 1 space, where they will quickly feel known, safe, and part of the Roseneath whānau.
To help your tamariki feel confident on their very first day, we arrange a series of transition visits in the weeks leading up to their start date.
Transition Visits
These short visits allow your child to:
Build excitement for the big day
✔
Spend time in Aft Class and get a feel for the school environment.
✔
Meet their kaiako (teacher) and their new classmates.
✔
Practice routines, like where to hang their bag and eat their morning tea.
✔
Our Principal, Jenny, will work with you to schedule these visits once your enrolment form is received.
The First Day
On your child’s first day, we encourage you to come into the classroom, help them settle in, and stay for a little while if they need you. We view education as a partnership with our parents, and our door is always open.
What About Stationery?
We know that preparing for school can be overwhelming, so we take one big job off your plate. You do not need to buy any stationery for your New Entrant! Roseneath School provides all the necessary classroom materials, and a simple goods and services contribution will be added to your termly school account (typically around $65 for the year).
Ready to join our whānau?
We would love to welcome you through the gates. Come and say kia ora to the team, explore our beautiful hillside environment, and see if Roseneath is the right fit for your child.
