Our Rōpū (HouseS)

Fostering connection, leadership, and fun across all year levels.

Tuakana-Teina in Action

At Roseneath School, our Rōpū (House) system is designed to build a strong, tight-knit community where every child feels they belong.

Every week, straight after our school assembly, the whole school comes together for Rōpū time. This is a dedicated opportunity for tuakana-teina—a beautiful concept where our older and younger students actively learn from, mentor, and support one another. Rōpū time is always full of games, art, shared reading, great chats, and a lot of fun!

A Special Welcome

When a new student joins the Roseneath whānau, they are officially welcomed into their Rōpū during our annual Mihi Whakatau (a traditional welcome similar to a pōwhiri).

To mark this special milestone and give them an immediate sense of belonging, each new child is gifted a special rock painted in their new Rōpū colours.
