Welcome to Roseneath School
A small kura with a big heart and spectacular views.
A Unique Place to Learn
Nestled into the hillside just minutes from the Wellington CBD, Roseneath School is a small, vibrant learning community. Our intimate size is our greatest strength, it means every single child is known, celebrated, and championed.
Perched high above the city, our students enjoy sweeping views out over Te Whanganui a Tara (Wellington Harbour). This spectacular environment doesn't just provide a beautiful backdrop for our playground, it shapes our entire school identity and daily learning.
Navigating Our Learning: Our Nautical Classrooms
Our deep connection to the harbour is reflected in the very structure of our kura. As our ākonga (students) grow and progress through the years, they journey through classrooms named after the parts of a ship:
Aft Class
Our welcoming space for New Entrants and Year 1 students.
Lower Deck
Where our Year 2 & 3 students
explore and grow.
Upper Deck
A dynamic classroom for our
Year 4 learners.
The Long Boat
The learning hub for our
Year 5 & 6 students.
Upper Bridge
Where our senior Year 7 & 8 students prepare for their next horizons.
Lower Bridge
A dedicated, creative classroom specifically set up for specialist programmes.
"Children participate and learn in a caring, collaborative learning environment. They enjoy a sense of belonging and connection to the school, friends and community. They are included and cared for and well supported to establish and maintain positive, respectful relationships. Opportunities for leadership and to have their voices heard, are well established."
A Nurturing Approach to Education
Roseneath School provides a nurturing, family-like atmosphere for both children and parents alike. We believe that when tamariki feel safe and supported, they are free to take risks, think outside the square, and discover their unique passions—especially in the arts and music.
We are incredibly proud of the environment we have built, a sentiment echoed by the Education Review Office (ERO).
Our Cultural Journey
We are deeply committed to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and fostering a rich cultural understanding within our kura.
Our kaiako (teachers) participate in ongoing iwi-led education and professional development. This ensures that te reo Māori and tikanga Māori are not just taught as separate subjects, but are naturally and respectfully woven into our everyday curriculum and classroom life.
Our Place is Your Place
At Roseneath, we don't just enrol a child, we welcome the whole whānau. We actively encourage parents and caregivers to become involved in the many activities, events, and learning celebrations that happen throughout the year. When you join Roseneath, you join a deeply connected community.
Come and See Our Kura in Action
Reading about our harbour views and unique classrooms is one thing, but experiencing the warmth of Roseneath School in person is another. We would love to show you around.
